It is too cold down in south Texas. Where did the sun go!

I spent the day in my studio sewing. I finished up the Summer Star from Temecula Quilt Co. Sew-Along earlier this past July. With all my scraps this was a great project to practice my HST's.  It was also one that I had in my UFO bin. I lost count of my UFO's.

I tried out my FMQ. It did not go well, but it is my first on my PFAFF. I have many scraps to practice on. I do better with my FHS (free hand sewing).

This past Christmas I got to see all my Sweetie Pies!

What a wonderful sound to hear all the grandkids having a wonderful time.

I will miss all of them on New Years and wish them all a safe and happy New Years celebration at home.

My WDH and I are staying home. Last year we celebrated with my children and watched all the fireworks. It was the best time with my children.
Tomorrow Mrs Pickles from Mrs Pickles Garden is hosting Quilting Secrets Blog Hop along with six other bloggers.
She is leaving clues on her blog and check out all the give aways.
I am ready for the clues. This will be fun.

Christine from Quilt Monster in my Closet has openings for a Dresden Blog Hop.  She is Cheerlearding for Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt.

Christmas Stockings

Christmas will be here soon and I just will not get my quilts done in time.  Not enough hours in the day. But I did get some stockings done just in time.

Christmas Stockings
I was in a Christmas Charm swap earlier this year and I am happy that I decided to sew the stockings with some of the lovely charms that I received.
Jeremiah's
Jullissa's

Josiah's
Jordan's

Now for some Christmas shopping to fill up the stockings.

I have my list started and still need to add to it.
I do not look forward to hititng the stores in the coming days.

We live in a small town, but the traffic is like Houston.

It will be an early night for me.

I also finished a few paper piece ornaments.  These were going to my daughter's, but will stay with me at home.
I joined Carol Doak's yahoo group this year and these are a few paper piece pattern from her website, book and her yahoo group.

Check out her website for more information if you are looking for a pattern.

Last, I have been sewing postcards this year.

I took this from a calendar in my office. I still need a bit more practice.

Now I have a few homemade Christmas cards to make later and need to be in the mail soon.

A cold front is to hit our area tonight. We do not get much cool weather down in south Texas. It was in the 80's today.

Sorry it has been awhile since my last post, but you can relate with the holidays. So much to do, before we leave for the holidays to see the kiddos.

Stay warm and safe everyone and Thanks for stopping by,

Nancy Drew Blog Hop reschedule dates

While I sit here in my cold office down south Texas (where it is always above 80) I received an email from Carol over Just Let Me Quilt our cheerleader for the Nancy Drew Blog Hop with a new button for the hop and schedule.  You will see I am scheduled on the second day March 7, 2013.

Now all I need is my fabric for the hop. HUMMMMM what to make?
Thank you Carol and Madame Samm Sew We Quilt for a great 2012 year.

Also, I have joined in on The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.  Sewing English Paper Piecing was my first introduction to quilting.
I have been in a few swaps this year and it is like Christmas here when I get a package in the mail.

Well, again we are heading off to the big city (H-Town) for another week of traveling with my WDH on his business trip.

I have not even unpacked from last week, except to do our laundry. I made a laundry bag from a patten from Selvedge (Craft....How to projects).

Christmas, I am not too sure when we will get to spend it with the kiddos and sweetie pies. This will be a hard one without our beautiful daughter this year.

Stay warm and safe today,

Found some goodies!

Yesterday, I dropped off my WDH at one of his customer site and afterwards, I headed to the local Pandera. We do not have a Pandera here in town and when my WDH is working out of town, I do take my Pandera card out racking up the points for a free pastry, drink or bagel. YUM!
We do have a Hardback Cafe here in town and the Barista's are wonderful. They even bake the muffins and the brownies that I love. It's a good thing that we live so far out of town to drive in everyday. That is another story.

Anyway, I did my local shopping at Michaels, which we do not have either. We used to have a Joann Fabric.
There is a sweet quilt shop in town and also in another town by the gulf. We live between the two small towns and the distance is about the same either direction. We try to limit our driving since fuel is way to high.
I do make my own Latte at home, but it is not the same.
Anyway, sorry for getting off track.

After my shopping, I hit the local antique shops in LaPorte, TX.
Here are my goodies:

I found a little magazine called Puff Quilts from Coats & Clark's Book No. 250 dated back in 1975 for .25 cents.  You think it was early Christmas for me.

Then a Singer tin can with handles. It was for $1.00 and it would be great for all my singer attachments.

I also found another tin can and will use it for my PFAFF attachments.
I used to have an old over night case back when I was so young. I would put all my treasures that were so dear to me and take it everywhere with me. When I was a teenager, I used it for all my makeup and then I do not know what happen to it when I was in college. I loved that old case and when I saw the blue one up for 75% off. I asked the salesman for the price and paid for it.

It still had the name and address from the previous owners.
I will be going through all my stash and redo the inside of the case.

It needs some TLC.  Great to put sewing projects in and easy to take with me on trips with my WDH.
Will see how this project works out.

We are heading out of town again next week and it truly puts a halt to all my sewing. No room for my machine and my featherweight needs attention.
Good thing I have backup sewing machine, but too bulky to take with me on the trips. It's hand sewing on the trips till I take my featherweight into the shop or when I have more time to sew at home.

Thank You and Day 3 Holiday Lane Pillow Blog Hop

Thank you to all my fellow quilty bloggers for your beautiful words during this time.

It was not my intention to sadden you during the last two hops. I had both posts scheduled to show until we got the news of my beautiful daughter passing. Instead I showed one photo of the Priceless Coin purse, which my daughter loved every purse that was out there and in her honor, she was priceless.

Holiday Lane Pillow, because she was a single working mom working for the school district as a bus driver and did so much for her children with so little and still manage to have a huge tree and gifts for her children and put food on the table and pay her rent and still ran her suburan on fumes to work and home for her babies. She struggle, but she did it for her babies to have a wonderful life and future.

My WDH and I live out of town and had to make several trips to take care of our daughter and make arrangements for her. While we were on the road, I read all the kind messages and believe me, it kept my husband from pull off the side of the road and comfort me and to keep the focus for her babies and my other children who were so close to her.

This is something that I wish on no one.

Again, my apologies to everyone and I will be back. She would want me to do what I love.
I have too.
My sweetie pies had put orders in for new quilts for Christmas earlier in the year.
They have slept with every quilt I have sewn for them along with pillowcases.
Her youngest child will not sleep without the first one I made for him when he was a baby.

Happy Stitching

Thank you Pauline and Madame Samm and please accept my applogies for not participating on the hop today.

We had to travel out-of-town to take care of the loss of our daughter.

I want to Thank all who left wonderful comments during our time of sorrow. It has not been easy for our family. On Thanksgiving we will have an empty place setting at the table. The days get harder, but my focus is to do what we can for her four amazing children.

I ask that when you are visiting with your family, that you grab one another and hold tighter than you ever had.

I am so greatful that I held my daughter, told her I loved her and gave her a kiss and spent a few hours together the day before she passed. The last communication I received from  her was a text saying" I love you mommie" which I have so many on my cell phone.

So grab your love one, tell them you love them, hug them and kiss them. Tomorrow four beautiful children will not be hugged, kissed, or told they are loved from they mommy, just say, their mommy died.

I wish everyone a Safe, and Happy Thanksgiving!
