Showers in South Texas

Today is the last day of April and we are having much needed April showers here in South Texas.  Makes a great day for sewing in....

It has been awhile since my last post and I have not fallen off the face of earth. Just going, going, going......

Time is passing by so fast and I have quilts in need of some loving grandchildren.
The night before, I lost the bobbin cover to my Janome.  I looked everywhere with no luck. So, I headed into town yesterday morning to B&B and purchased one. (Yes, just one)
I could not for the life of me find that cover anywhere.

Before I lost my bobbin, I did complete a few projects.

Contrary Wifes Block

Today is a beautiful sunny day and I spent a little time sewing. Earlier, I was moving my office/studio around and took a table out and turned my desk around to make room for my chair. I love the light that comes in from the east side of the house.
I have so much good junk, I feel that the walls are starting to close in on me.
So I decided to finish my April challenge from Kathleen Tracey's Small Quilt Talk Group.

This was a great project to practice my FMQ.
On Wednesday Quilting Bee, I picked up a little tip.
I sew on my Janome 7318 and turn my stitch length up to 4 for the turns on FMQ. It does not go any more than that. I do not have photos since I was pressing for time.
As you can see on my detail view, that it did not turn out too bad.
You can check out the rest of the mini quilts on the Small Quilt Talk Group photo gallery and Flickr.
Well I have to get ready for a long trip to Galveston this week. My WDH also wanted to go to the races in Baytown this Friday and makes for a long week stay.
I hope to take in some sites while staying in Galveston and the weather is beautiful.

Have a wonderful evening,

Sunny Friday!

I found a sweet tutorial for a Pleated Pouch Tutorial over Skip to My Lou.
I found some scraps in my bin and a zipper.
What do you think?

I added an inch to the top piece and lining to enlarged the pouch. Added a tab to cover where I shorten the zipper on both ends, but I was not happy with it and hand stitch along the zipper edge.

I have so many projects that are in need of finishing, but needed to put them aside for awhile.

Spring Fling Paper Piecing Blog Hop
Also, Soma is having a Spring Fling Blog Hop over Whims and Fancies. Hop on over and check out all the paper piece patterns that are posted by all the participants.

Today is a cool day here down south Texas and a great day to work in my office. I did get a chance to work on my Retro Flowers that I was following along last year over City Stitches. I finished all my blocks, but I was not pleased with the end results. I will post photos later when I add my sashing and borders.

Here is a peek of my April flowers that I sent to my secret swap partner for The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.
I hope they like my flowers I sent.

For the creative art in you, Tammy from Daisy Yellow Art has some projects coming up later this year.

Check out her Art Journaling 101 on her blog if you want to stir up your creative juices. I need a huge jumpstart. My pages are blank and in need of some sketching or color.

Many more projects to share, but I hear my WDH downstairs and I could use a break.

Have a safe and wonderful weekend.

Keep your thoughts and prayers for the families in West, Texas and the families in Watertown, MA. who are going thru heartbreak.

Thanks for stopping by,

New Sewing Machine Cover

No, I have not fallen off in the wild blue wonder!
Only here and there and everywhere.
My WDH works out of town and yet when we get home, he wants to go off to the wild blue wonder.
Down south fishing. The only thing, I was sick for two days.
My home is still the same as two weeks ago. I did managed to dust a bit and replant my ivy, clear a bit off my back porch, fill in some holes with dirt out back, and yes, did a little sewing at home.

First, trying to finish off my Honeycomb pillow hosted by Jenelle over Echinops and Aster.

Here is a photo of my top. I am hoping to finished this week and have a new pillow.

Also, I sewed a sewing machine cover for my new Janome.
McCall's  M5017
I used the pattern as a template and added an opening for the handles. I was press for time and wanted a patchwork, but I will make one for my other machine.

Also, found this tutorial for this beautiful hexie. Not sure who's tutorial, but I will try to find who and give credit.
(update) This tutorial is from Martha, Sew What's New and she also shows an example using three fabrics.
I love the half hexie and her tutorial was sweet and simple to follow.

I finally gave in and made a divided basket by Anna, Noodlehead.

I had to put the project off and come back to it. I filled it up with all my goodies from the Greater Houston Shop Hop, while we were in Houston on a business trip. I heard about it the night before and thought this would be a time to fill my two days in Houston. What fun and great blocks.
Blocks are still sitting in the basket.

This past Sunday, my WDH and I drove south to the wild blue wonder and I finally got to work on my Apple Core. Instead I used a stamp by Kate and love how the pieces came together. It was not my best, but I hope you like what I did with my Guild notebook.

I found a sweet pattern from the microMod His and Hers sew along.

This would be a great gift for my WDH and son.
I thought I would make another wallet and add felt or wool for needles and sewing accessories or for my business cards in pretty fabric. Lots of wonderful projects.

Today is day 7 of the April Showers Blog Hop.

Stop by and visit all the lovely participants who are creating up such sweet mug rugs.

I (My WHD)  finally picked up my Morse machine and I finally tried it out last night, only to nothing was working on my Morse. I will be calling my local repair guy and find out what happen again. I was ready to sew but could not figure out why it was not working . Another trip into town today. I was hoping to get my office cleaned today and go thru some of my projects to donate to our Guild for our annual quilt show in the fall. My office is getting hard to find my pretties and I need to finish the grandchildren's quilts. I already missed one grandchild and have six to go.

Well, I still have to make calls before I leave for town and get ready.

The sun is out and I am already feeling the heat in my office.
Also, earlier, I hit the publish button by mistake before I finished my post.
SORRY!
Hope everyone has wonderful day and happy quilting...
