Think Christmas Blog Hop

It's my stop today Think Christmas and I would like to give Lesley from The Cuddle Quilter and Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt a huge Thank You for all the hard work putting Think Christmas together.

I have three beauties to show in Red, Green and White.
4" Tree Block by Bonnie K Browing

First, is a tree block pattern designed by Bonnie K Browning from her book Paper Piecing Pattern on the American Quilt Society. The pattern is a 4" paper piece tree block. I added a white fabric with round medallion and quilted with my sewing machine first time. Then sew two borders and bind. Total block size is 12 1/2" and fits perfect on my table stand.

My second block is a bit larger. I first saw this pattern on Martingale .   The pattern is called Christmas Cat Chats.

Christmas Cat Chats 6" X 11"

The finish block is 6 1/2" x 11".  I added a decorative stitch for a collar and glitter button heart for the eyes.  Finished size  is 15" X 13".   The pattern is simple to follow and great for beginners.

Next is a quilt that I started out with a 6 1/2" cut WOF until a yard later, I ended up with a 5" cut WOF. I do not know what happen or too many things going on at the same time or just Senior Moment!

Flip and Sew Quilt 38" X 38"

But,  I finished with a smaller quilt than I started out with.  I was told, this is a flip and sew pattern and is great for all those scraps sitting around.  I did start to  write a tutorial for the quilt, but it got too confusing. My applogies for that.
Those are my beauties for Think Christmas and do not forget to stop by the rest of the hop today.

Blog Hopping Think Christmas

Today is the first day of Think Christmas. I had a wonderful time visiting everyone's blogs and see all the beautiful blocks, table toppers, runners, quilts and yes, tutorials on the blop hop. Do not know when I will have the time to make all the beauties. I do have some favorite, but I will keep it to myself.

Tomorrow is my day to show case my beauties here along with

Do not forget to stop by tomorrow and visit.

For a complete list of all the participants, head over to Lesley's blog.

Hosted by Lindsey and Sukie.  This week's host is Tamiko from Patchwork Notes on her take on the Bread Bag.

Here is a photo of my bread bag.

Zaaka Style Breag Bag

The pattern was fairly simple to follow and great if you are a beginner.  I am getting ahead of my Christmas gifts. I know just the person to give as a present.

Only six weeks left for the Zaaka Style Sew-Along left and plenty of pretties to make.

I have also been following along the Great Granny Along over at Lori's blog Bee In My Bonnet and Jodi at Pleasant Home. I found a great pattern to use up my scraps I have sitting in my tote. Here are three more of my blocks I am adding on Flickr today and hope to have three more to show.   This one is staying home with us.

Tomorrow is the last day of Index-Card-A-Day over at Tammy's blog. This was Tammy's second year hosting ICAD and I truly enjoy seeing everyone's card.  I have not created my last two cards yet, but will try to get them posted sometime tomorrow on the Flickr group.  It has been a challenge for me, since I only draw stick people, but it did take me out of my comfort zone. I hope you will stop by.

Thanks again for visiting and hope to see you back here tomorrow.

Have a wonderful evening,

Zakka Style Sew-Along Week 17

This afternoon the showers past by and the temperature is down to 75 and comfortable.

Delightful Linen bag, designed by Mette Robl from ErlePerle

This is week 17 of the Zakka Style Sew-Along.
For this beauty, I cut (2) rectangles 6" x 7 1/2" linen scraps for the body front and back. I did the same for the lining using cotton fabric and interfacing. I emblished the front with a fussy cut of 4" x 4" square and hand stitch to the front rectangle and interfacing for stability. Then aligned the front and back sides together along with the interfacing and sew the sides and bottoms edge. Turn the bag right side out and push the corners out and outline the front of the bag with a running stitch. I sew the lining together on the sides and bottom and place the lining into the bag, align and pin the top edge. I found a scrap bias tape long enough to sew the top edge of the bag. Added a scrap ribbon for a loop and added a button to the front of the bag. There you have it, a delightful linen bag. Photos are posted on Flickr and are a delight to see.
Great for a gift.

Hint, Hint!

In speaking of gifts, I will be back here next Tuesday July 31 for the Think Christmas Blog Hop running July 30  - August 5.  Leslie over the The Cuddle Quilter is our wonderful Hostess along with  Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt who put all this together.

For some Christmas Spirit, here is the schedule:

July 30

I look foward to visiting all my fellow bloggers. Hope you will too!

Early this morning, I completed this beauty (child's quilt) for the Wood Hollow fire victims.  Julie over at Phoenix Quilts have been accepting quilts, tops, batting, fabrics and donations for our neighbors who have lost homes to the wild fires.  Julie and her husband have already donated quilts to fire victims near Fairview, Utah to a group of women who have been sewing quilts for their neighbors. Next delivery to the victims near Poctello, ID will be August 8 and 9.
Let's get the word out and help our neighbors rise from the ashes.

Paper Piecing Bird

Today, someone asked about a paper piece bird pattern. I did one a few months ago and posted a photo of it on Flickr.

The pattern's from liljabs.com. It was challenging since paper piecing was all new to me.
